5th March 07 - Corporate Manslaughter Legislation
Do you run a fleet of cars, provide company cars or pay employees to do business mileage in their own cars?
If the answer is yes to any of them then you must now ensure that any vehicle used for business is roadworthy. Under this new legislation organisations no matter how small could be prosecuted if workers die whilst driving at work if the vehicle was un-roadworthy, even if they were using their own vehicle.
A guide can be obtained from the Health & Safety Executive which outlines what firms have to do to establish occupational road risks and formulating strategies which will include checking employees fitness to drive, driving licenses, insurance policies and MoT certificates.
