Microsoft Launches Vista |

![]() After months of delays Microsoft finally launches its new operating system - Microsoft Vista. Our Opinion so far Microsoft has dominated the PC market for some time with around 90% of PC's running a Windows Operating System. Vista is Mircosoft's latest operating system and the first to be launched since Windows XP. The Operating System (OS) worked well but we quickly found that machines needed upgrading to get the best from the new OS. One thing which could cause a number of problems is the need for compatible "drivers". Drivers as they imply run opperating systems and applications on your computer. If an operating system does not have the drivers suitable for an application that you have and use then it is unlikely that it will run that application, therefore the lack of Vista drivers for some peripherals could be a major issue for many users. Even some beta drivers in evalutation tests by indipendant evaluators meant that games ran significantly slower under Vista than they did under Windows XP. Overall the system looks very good and appears to be stable, mind you we found XP stable so there is no reason why Vista should not be the same. The graphics interfaces and other features are impressive, but you will need a graphics card suitable for gaming if you want the best from the software. If you go to Microsft Vista the link will take you to a Microsoft website which will provide you with a free review of your PC/Laptop and tell you if it is suitable for running Vista on. If it isn't it will tell you what components you need to upgrade. |
