St Anne's Haverthwaite
St Anne's Parish Church HaverthwaitePriest in Charge: Rev Canon Peter CalvertThe Parish of St Anne Haverthwaite is a member of the Leven Valley Benefice |
St Anne's has been at the heart of the community for almost 200 years. Like most country churches it suffers from small congregations as local people have to move away for affordable housing and jobs.
However, we are increasing our attendances and are focussing on our Mission to bring the church back to the heart of our rural community. Projects are now afoot to create Beaver and Cub Packs for our youngsters, a Youth Club and clubs and activity groups for those a little older.
When you move around rural parishes you tend to find that the very young and the very old are usually catered for with some kind of club or activity. However, those whose age range falls in between that miss out, due to lack of ideas and in many cases the individuals to put in some of their own time to get things going. We hope to change that in the coming months and would like to hear from anyone in the parish that would like to start a group or club, we will give them all the help we can.
Our Priest in Charge, Rev Canon Peter Calvert, will be happy to discuss any of your requirements Weddings, Baptism's , Funerals and other events including memorial services.
Peter and Haverthwaite Parochial Church Council encourages the use of the church for village events so if you have something you would like to organise and think the church could help with a venue, give the vicarage a call.
We are keen to create or help with events for the young, the old and those of us who are in between.
