Constituents: Various glycosides (actaeine and cimicifugin), racemosin, oestrogenic substances, triterpenes, isoferulic acid, tannin, salicyclic acid
Actions: Emmenagogue, antispasmodic, alterative, diaphoretic, expectorant, astringent, diuretic, sedative, relaxing nervine, analgesic (salicylic acid), regulates autonomic system, vaso-dilator
Systems affected: Liver, spleen, stomach, large intestine, nervous system

Oestrogenic activity relieves hot flushes during menopause
