Lakeland Herbs grow Organic/Biodynamic medicinal herbs in the Lake District and produce a range of Tinctures and Oils to the highest standards. The way in which we sow, plant, tend and weed the flowerbeds ensures individual attention is given to each plant. We produce each batch of tincture or oil individually, taking great care choosing which parts of the plant go into each batch, ensuring we produce only the highest quality product. After picking the plants we process them immediately, capturing all the goodness of the plant. Organic growing means the plants are free of herbicides, fungicides or synthetic fertilisers. Biodynamic methods/techniques ensure maximum plant content (minerals, vitamins, resins and volatile oils).

At Lakeland Herbs we recognise our responsibility to manage the environmental impacts of our activities and products. We have assessed our activities and identified that our significant environmental aspects/impacts include waste packaging from goods we buy in, materials and energy used in manufacture of our product packaging and the use of water. Our positive impact is the growing and sale of products to Demeter Standards to which we adhere for our organic and biodynamic certification.

In order to promote good environmental practices, our Policy with regard to the environment is as follows: -

  1. To identify the significant environmental impacts of our activities.
  2. To develop suitable objectives, targets and procedures to minimise our significant environmental impacts.
  3. To comply with relevant environmental legislation, regulation and other requirements relating to our activities.
  4. Prevent pollution and avoid the use of herbicides, fungicides and synthetic fertilisers.
  5. Continually seek ways to minimise our already small use of energy and water resources.
  6. Reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill by re-using, recover or recycle materials and packaging wherever practicable and to use minimal packaging for our products.
  7. Ensure that environmental responsibilities are defined, communicated and understood by all staff and provide appropriate training where needed.
  8. Communicate, co-operate and respond to the views of customers and the general public, on environmental issues
  9. To ensure that suppliers and contractors understand our aims to reduce our environmental impact and encourage them in a responsible approach with regard to environmental issues.
  10. To strive for continual improvement in overall environmental performance.
