Elements - Web Forms
Elements - Web FormsThis section deals with creating a web form. Web forms allow companies to receive feedback through their web site, such as name, telephone number, company, enquiries etc.
All instructions within this section assume you have already clicked the appropriate Insert button on the Page Editor screen and have the Insert item screen displayed.
Once "Web Form" has been selected you are then able to fill in any number of fields you would like in your form that will return the information you would like to receive.
The first section deals with the following points: - Alignment: select the alignment of the web form
- Text before form: any text to be shown just above the form should be entered here.
- Send form to: for which you will indicate an appropriate email address.
- Form subject: for which you will indicate an appropriate subject matter.
- Action on submission: for which you will have a choice of 4 options.
- Designated page: If you selected option 3 or 4 in the "action on submission" category, you now need to select where the link will take you, on submission. Selection is made by clicking on the drop down box where there will be a list of all your pages. Select the page you want the submission button to link to.
- "Thanks" text: for which you will indicate an appropriate thank you message, once the form has been submitted. Allows for formatting tags (BOLD, ITALIC, etc)
- "Submit" button text: for which you will indicate text for the submit button that the user clicks to send the form. i.e. "send", "submit" etc.
- Default text field width: select the width of the text boxes.
- Overall form width: select width of the overall form.
- Headings: select the alignment of the headings.
- Max number of fields: select the number of fields you require. There is a maximum of 100.

The second section allows you to create the fields required in your form.
For each of the field lines you may select the field type to be either "Single Line", "Text Box", "Tick Box", "Radio buttons" or "Drop-down List".
Define the fields that users can fill in using the table. Leave a field heading blank if the field is not to be used. |
- "Single line" is only used when receiving a small amount of information, which you think only warrants a one line or less reply.
- "Text box" is used if the field warrants a reply longer than one line.
- "Tick box" is used when you want to give options for the site visitor to tick.
- "Radio buttons" again are used to give options but ensures only one button will be selected.
- "Drop-down lists" are used when there many options, from which the site visitor can select.
|
For radio buttons, and drop-down lists, the "Values" field should be filled in with a list of the available options separated by |, e.g. "option1|option2|option3".
For other field types, the contents of "Values" will be shown as plain text after the box.
Note that normally a user can submit the form without filling in all fields. If you set "Required" to "Yes" for a field, that field must be filled in before a user can submit the form. Click the Store Changes button to save and return to the updated Page Editor screen. Back to top
